botancial gardens

The Portland Botancial Gardens are situated at the corner of Glenelg & Cliff Streets.

The gardens were established in 1857 by William Allitt with the assistance of the Melbourne Botancial Gardens Curator, Dr Ferninard Von Mueller.
The gardens are renowned for their flower displays, which are at their peak in late summer and autumn. The spectacular display features over 300 varieties of roses and 130 varieties of dahlias, with over 1300 dahlias being planted annually.

While at the gardens, you can also visit the original Curator's Cottage built in 1858.
